U.S. Army WW2 Muzzle Cover     
U.S. Army ww2 cloth muzzle cover.  Marker marked and dated E.A.Brown MFG. Co. 1944.  During WW2 the U.S. Army produced muzzle covers to be used on many rifles and carbines of ww2.   The purpose of the muzzle cover was to prevent mud or pieces of dirt or depris from getting into the bore of the weapon. The covers were made out of web fabric and in certain situations the soldier could shoot through the cover without harm to himself or the weapon. The covers were produced in both Olive Drab and Khaki in which the shades of each varied greatly and were produced by many manufacters and typically dated 1944.
