CWS-114.  American Civil War Artillery Short Sword with scabbard out of local North Carolina estate.  Sword dated 1863 on crossguard. Overall a nice example of a possible confederate side arm (Foot Artillery Sword). Blade length approx 19" and overall length about 25". Appears to be very similar to the French Artillery swords, however, with slight differences, most notably the marks on the cross guard and blade marks. Most likely this was some type of possible confederate import from France.  I have not seen this particular version before. I was told this was hanging over the fireplace in a NC house for quite a while and was stated to be a family sword. Definitely an interesting example worthy of further research and investigation........$2,600.
